Google introduced the “Instant Preview” function to its search engine today. The new feature allows users to see a snapshot of the website contents without having to actually visit the site. Snapshots can be seen via clicking a magnifying glass tab that sits to the right of every search result.
The new feature comes after Microsoft’s announcement that it will team up with Facebook to improve Bing’s performance, especially with regard to social networking. Initial research suggests that “Instant Preview” will increase user satisfaction by 5%, and will strengthen Google’s position as a dominant provider in the field.
